Have you ever heard of Carrie Underwood’s Fit52 Workout? Well, I just got finished reading her new book, Find Your Path and I loved it. I have always really liked her but after reading it, I like her even more! I actually got the audiobook version which is narrated by Carrie, and I just felt like she was talking with me—it was a lot of fun to listen to.

Along with her story and her health journey which was so interesting, one of the things she talks about is The Fit52 Workout. It is such a unique way to put a workout together, that I thought I had to try it out and write about it on the blog. All you really need is a deck of cards. The workout assigns different muscle groups plus cardio to each suit in the deck.

Carrie Underwood Fit52 Workout Plan

Then, each suit is assigned two exercises for the full workout. One for set #1 (first half of the deck) and the other for set #2 (second half).

To start the workout, shuffle the deck, divide it in half, and draw the first card. The suit will tell you what exercise you need to do, and the number is the amount of reps. It’s super easy! And because you never know what you’re going to get, it makes it fun, too.

Carrie and her fitness instructor, Eve, provide ideas for the first 6 days of the workout in the book, but what is great about this workout is, once you become more advanced and know the moves, you can make up your own workout anywhere you are. At the gym, at home or on vacation.

And if that is too much to plan, she has an app you can download as well that you can use to help guide you on the workouts.

Sample Exercises:

Upper Body

  • Set #1 – Push-ups
  • Set #2 – Tricep Bench Dips

Lower Body

  • Set #1 – Double Suitcase Squats
  • Set #2 – Step Ups

Core

  • Set #1 – Reverse Crunches with Leg Drop
  • Set #2 – Plank Around the Worlds

Cardio

  • Set #1 – Star Jumps or Star Jacks
  • Set #2 – Jump Lunges

My Fit52 Workout Experience

When I did Carrie Underwood’s Fit52 Workout, it did take a bit to get the hang of which suit meant what and I had to keep referencing the key, but once I flipped through a few cards, I got the hang of it. And the sweat started to pour!

For the full workout, the total time with warm up and cool down is about one hour to get through the whole deck. If you want to do a shorter workout, you can go through only half the deck. For the first half of my work out, I was getting in the pushups, ow! And the second half got a lot of legs and abs.

What I loved about this workout was that it flew by but I was definitely feeling it—especially when I had to do 18 step ups in a row on each leg! My favorite part though, is that the workout is completely different each time. I need to switch things up to stay interested and this is definitely a great little trick to keep in my back pocket, especially when I’m traveling and need to get a workout in. Just keep a deck of cards there and I got a great hour long sweat session anywhere I go!
