The Secret to Saving

I was recently given the opportunity from Perrigo Nutritionals to sample some of their store-brand baby formula products. I wrote about it in my post Generic vs. Brand Name Formula. I never throught to try generic baby formula before and learned so much about it.

That opportunity changed the way we looked at generic products for babies completely. The products were almost identical to the major brand we were using before, but the store-brand formula was half the price.

That’s a 50% savings on our baby formula budget line item! That kind of savings really helped our budget in a major way. And Rylee had no problem with the transition over to the store-brand formula either.

Savings at Any Age

So you can understand why I jumped… no, lunged at the opportunity to sample some of their toddler food products.

Perrigo Nutritionals sent me a care package full of foods for Rylee’s new toddler stage of snacking to try out and a copy of Crystal Paine’s book, Say Goodbye to Survival Mode.

Both came at the perfect time for our family!

Perrigo Nutritionals provides the same high standards and expertise in safety, nutrition and quality for toddler foods as it does for infant formula-manufacturing and is one of four companies recognized by the FDA for meeting their strict requirements.

Rylee loves to feed herself now and these products are great for developing her motor skills while providing good nutrition.

She slurped up the fruit pouches like they were her sippy cup or something! And she loves feeding herself the puffs. They are so easy to bring along with us while we are out and help keep her amused as well.

Any new parent can tell you that the budget can get tight when your adding to your family. So instead of paying more for a brand name, it is an effortless switch to a store-brand product that can cut costs in your family budget. It has been a totally worth it change for us and would benefit any budget conscious family.

Saving money by switching to store-brand products is just one of the many tips that Crystal Paine talks about in her book. Here are some of the other great money saving tips she explains.

Crystal Paine’s 5 Money Saving Tips for Families

Create a Budget. A budget gives you parameters and purpose, it gives you boundaries, and it gives you freedom to live creatively within those boundaries.

Shop With Cash. When you shop with a credit card you can have your budget in your head and you can do the best to stick with it when you check out, but it’s so much easier to go just a little bit over here and there when you’re swiping!

Plan a Menu. When you have a plan in place for what you’re supposed to be eating each meal and you’ve already purchased the ingredients for those recipes, it’s a lot harder to justify chucking the plan for takeout.

Use Coupons. Coupons are a great way to save a lot of money on your grocery bill, but they can be hard to keep up with. Clipping, sorting, and organizing coupons takes time — so enter a coupon database! You’ll have access to printable and other coupons currently available and it’s one of the most effective and efficient ways to save money on groceries.
