Our trip to Savannah for the Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon was such a success! A short girls trip for sure, but a success nonetheless!

We checked into our hotel, the Andaz, which was the absolute perfect location for the race. Loreyn and I were able to walk to the starting line in less than 5 minutes. We didn’t have to worry about parking or shuttles or anything. It was amazing!

But the best part about this trip was spending it with two of my best friends, Loreyn and Lauren. These lovely ladies:

The Girls and I take Savannah

I have missed these girls so much and it has been way too long since we have all been together (probably since Loreyn’s wedding almost 2 years ago!), so this trip was long overdue.

Upon check-in, we all received a complimentary glass of wine. Of course we indulged and cheered in honor of being reunited with each other!

We explored the area near our hotel a bit on Friday, scoping out some interesting places to visit after our race the next day.

Our hotel was so close to Bull Street, which is a gorgeous street with squares on every block and beautiful monuments. It was my favorite part about Savannah.

We also went up to the rooftop of the Bohemian Hotel for a small bite to eat before heading to the Fitness Expo to pick up our packets.

We had the most perfect weather and enjoyed walking the squares and admiring the beautiful architecture. It really got us excited to run the race the next day!

Loreyn and I were the only (half crazy) ones running the race and Lauren was there to cheer us on. I’m not used to running races with people or having cheerleaders on the sidelines so this was awesome!

I felt kind of bad for Lauren, though, because on the first night, the night before the race, Loreyn and I passed out at 8:30 pm. And we did not plan on that bedtime at all, we actually PASSED OUT at 8:30!

Maybe we are just getting old, or maybe it was the drive up and the energy and excitement of it all… or a combination of both! For dinner that night, we really wanted pasta – and so did the rest of Savannah! We took a table at the first place we could get and regretted our decision of ordering the really rich fettuccine alfredo dinner that we had. We all pretty much felt like garbage afterwards and that could have contributed to our early bedtime, too.

Our first meal in Savannah was not the most successful, but we did make it out to some amazing restaurants while we were there.

Like The Public Kitchen & Bar.

The drinks were handcrafted and the food was to die for. Since we only had a couple days there and not a lot of meals to have, we all decided to share some entrees to get the most flavor out of the day.

Thank goodness we did! This was by far our favorite meal of the trip, and it was pretty much because of the award-winning Shrimp and Grits.

The restaurant was nice enough to split each of the entrees for us too, which was perfect! We also dabbled in the Seasonal Risotto and a Falafel Pita. But the Shrimp and Grits stole the show. I think towards the end of the meal we started dipping the risotto in that magical Shrimp and Grits sauce. (I don’t think, I know…)

After race day and before we had to hit the road for home, we stopped by The Collins Quarter. A really unique Australian restaurant with a walk-up coffee window and authentic Australian brunch dishes.

Like every good restaurant in Savannah this past weekend, there was at least a 45 minute wait. But we didn’t mind, ’cause the coffee window was opened and we enjoyed an Australian favorite, a Flat White Latte. It’s unique because of the extra creamy milk they use.

Loreyn enjoyed a picture-perfect Lavender Latte once we got seated.

Lauren and I shared a colorful brunch of Avocado Toast and Eggs Benedict.

And Loreyn went sweet with the French toast.

And I can’t forget to mention the unique honey-tasting experience we had at the Savannah Bee Company.

I wasn’t aware there were so many delicious flavors of honey out there!

We later found out that our hotel gave us their honey-filled chocolate bars as a gift in the rooms when we got back later that day. Yum!

And this post only recaps half of our adventures in Savannah! Stay tuned for the Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon recap!
