Fab Five Friday #26

Happy Friday! I hope your week has been treating you well and you are looking forward to all the fun you’re going to have this weekend! (And if you’re counting Dry January days, this is Day 13! Nice!) Not sure about you, but this week felt like it flew by. And it’s a long weekend, which is so nice. What are you doing to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day? Winter Garden is having a parade and celebration to honor him, and we’re excited to check it out. Now, are you ready for this week’s Fab Five Friday highlights?! Let’s go!

1. Philips Hue Light Bulbs + App

These Philips Hue bluetooth lights are so cool! Maybe I am late on this trend, but it is so much fun to be able to easily control lights in my bedroom through my phone. I have two lamps on my bedside tables with no light switch, so I love this as an option to turn them on and off. But my favorite part is setting routines in the app. I heard on a podcast, that a tip for waking up early, is to turn light on so your body starts reacting to it and thinking the day has started, even though it’s dark outside. With these lights, I can set a routine in the morning for them to automatically turn on at a certain time in the morning, and it’s so fun! I went with the white lights, but they also have color changing and dimming lights which look so cool and could create some other moods and routines. They are a lot more expensive, it seems, so maybe if this trend gets more popular the prices on the specialty ones will come down.

2. Scheduled Lunchtime Walks

I’ve been sticking to my goals and set daily routine and walking every day at lunch. It’s something I scheduled for myself on the calendar so that I make time for it, and now I look forward to it every day. It feels great to get out and the weather right now is absolutely gorgeous. I’m wearing a new workout set from Joja that I got from my brother and his girlfriend for Hanukkah, and I love it! It’s super comfortable and stretchy, but it doesn’t bunch or sag at the waist when I workout, which is my key indicator for quality. And I’m in love with the color! I’d never heard of this brand before, but it’s amazing and they have some other great sets, too!

3. Echo Dot + Echo Glow

We got these for the kids for Christmas as their one big gift, to replace an old alarm clock night light that we found online, but broke for both kids. Rylee loves to listen to music in her room and they both needed a night light to replace the clock, so we thought the Echo Dot and Echo Glow would be perfect! It’s really been so helpful for us, too! I can announce things to the kids from our living room, the kids can listen to calming music to help them fall asleep, set alarms easily for school (and set them to music, which is so fun!) and change the light for reading, or for moods. All by voice, so the kids can set things up themselves! We’re loving them in the kid’s room and highly recommend!

4. Solar Bears Games

We went to a Solar Bears Game last weekend, and it was so much fun! The Solar Bears are the minor league team in Orlando and they play at the Amway Arena. Being from Florida, I haven’t been to many hockey games, but man was this exciting! So much action, the kids loved it! Not only was the game fun to watch, but they had an MC hosting the game and all types of fun stuff in between periods. The music was great and the kids kept trying to get on the jumbotron, which they did!! So naturally once that happened, they didn’t stop showing off so they could keep getting on it. Ha! It was hilarious! And the tickets really are not that expensive, so it is a great activity or night out with the family. We would definitely go again!

5. Target Boots

A little splurge I found this week while perusing Target after returning something (funny how that happens, huh?) I loved these black army boots I got there last year and wear them all the time, they are so comfortable so I wanted another color. These are definitely different and have more of a heel, but they are so comfortable! I have a lot of heeled booties for going out, so was happy to find a more casual pair. Definitely recommend all Target boots, they are so great and for the price, it’s amazing!
