Following up on my post, gift ideas for 8 year old girls, here are some gift ideas for 5 year old boys, inspired by my son for this year’s holiday season. These ideas include a great mix of options to foster intellectual, artistic and athletic abilities. My son loves sports so much, but he also really loves learning and making things. So this is the perfect mix of both.

Scooter

There is something about a scooter, especially one that lights up, that kids love. This is something he’s wanted for a while and I like that it adjusts a bit higher then the ones we have had in the past, so he can use it longer.

Hoover board

Little boys might have some hidden agenda to want to try anything they can to get their mama’s stomachs to drop, but this light up hoover board is actually really fun and easy to ride. I’ve supervised Reece riding this with some neighborhood friends and they all ride them really well. I may be requiring helmet and wrist guards, though.

Basketball

I love sports that only require one thing as far as required equipment goes. Both kids have been really into playing basketball with our neighbor lately and this was high on Reece’s list. I thought this was a really fun twist on a basketball because it lights up, and they’ve been playing until the street lights come on lately, so it’s a really cool idea.

Tacto Coding by PlayShifu

This is one of the coolest things I have seen this year. I mentioned the Tacto Laser game in my 8 year old girls gift guide, and this one is based on coding, which Reece has really shown interest in. It seems like such an amazing way to get kids to learn the basics of coding in a hands-on way. PlayShifu Tacto Coding is available on Amazon and was designed and created by coder parents.

Color by Number

Reece loves to paint, color and do art projects. One of the most simple options to gift is coloring books, and it’s something we really enjoy doing together. These color by number pages are fun because he’s always excited to see what the picture is in the end. You can pair this with a shiny new set of markers or crayons and the kids are happy.

Legos

Legos are a great option for the little creator or builder and make a perfect gift. This LEGO City Ice-Cream Truck Cool Building Set is so cute. And for more of a challenge this LEGO Creator 3in1 Space Mining Mech Building Toy is another great option. Littles might need some help with the advanced option, but its so cool to see them challenge themselves.

Yahtzee

And because I think that games are the gift that keep on giving, there is always one on the list. Yahtzee is such a great game to play with your 5 year old because it’s not only super fun and exciting, but it is a great way to practice math skills. And it’s an easy game to bring with you anywhere.

I hope you’ve enjoyed these gift ideas for 5 year old boys and it helped inspire your holiday shopping. Is there anything else your little 5 year old boys are into? Would love to hear in the comments below!
