I was always so excited as a little girl to go back to school. The hustle and bustle of getting new school supplies and picking out my notebooks and pencil cases. Sending my kids back to school on the other hand, can be a little bit overwhelming.
I learned a lot about school prep these passed couple years with Rylee going into the third grade so now that Reece is going into elementary school as well, I feel like I know exactly what he needs. I’m so excited for the kids to be at the same school this year! It honestly feels like a dream come true! Here is what I am stocking up on this year and what I think are some of the best back to school essentials for elementary students.
Uniforms
The kids’ school requires uniforms, which I really love. It makes it so easy to stock up on clothes for the year and for them to get dressed in the morning. My go-to spots for uniforms are Gap, Target and Walmart. They each have different styles depending on the item and some great sales.
Backpacks + Lunch Supplies
Rylee’s backpack is from Pottery barn and it’s in great shape still. Plus it’s super cute, so I washed it to get it ready for school and picked Reece up his own Hot Wheels backpack and lunch box from there as well. I think they will last them both through the end of elementary school.
For lunches, I love the leakproof Bentgo Box. I upgraded Rylee’s to the adult version now that she is 8 and can eat more food than Reece. And for water bottles, Thermos brand is great. Ry has the Pottery Barn water bottle because when we got her backpack it was on sale and it’s great as well, but a bit pricey if not on sale.
And you can’t forget icepacks! I love the Bentgo ones because they are really slim and fit well with the boxes themselves.
The Basics
Some other basic essentials I grabbed this year included kids sized hair ties for Rylee, uniform colored socks, and undies. I always like to have a few oversized bows in uniform colors to dress Ry’s hair up, too. I have to say red, white and blue hair bows are so hard to come by! These JoJo ones are super cute, we have them in a few colors. And of course some new kicks to top it all off.
We still need to get our kids grade level school supplies but we are waiting for Back to School Tax Free week to handle all of that fun stuff.
