It’s Friday and the first full work week of the year! There’s a lot going on in the news, and I hope wherever you are, you are safe and warm. I’ve been thinking about all of those in California who have lost everything they have from the wildfires and are especially keeping my friends and family who live there top of mind. I always try to stay on the positive side and that’s why the Fab Five Friday is back. Highlighting some positive moments and favorite things from this past week. Let’s begin!
Fab Five Friday #1 – Solar Bears Game
It might sound uncommon for Floridians to be going to a hockey game, but we have our own team in Orlando— the Solar Bears and they are the farm team for the Tampa Bay Lightning. We went this past weekend and it is such a good time. We usually go this time of year for my father-in-law’s birthday and it’s become a tradition. The games are so much fun! And the Solar Bears won in overtime! It was such a blast.
Fab Five Friday #2 – New Weekly 2025 Calendar
A new year means a fresh start and getting organized, and I love it. This year, I created a weekly view calendar with focus on fitness, eating good, and setting healthy habits. I realized that with my work and family calendar that I share with Brett through Google, I don’t really need to add in daily appointments or kids activities since it all lives online, so this weekly view helps me prioritize some personal items instead. Fab Five Friday #3 – Dry January
It’s my third year in a row committing to Dry January and it’s definitely getting easier! (Although its the weekend coming up, so we shall see, but I feel good about it!) I definitely needed the detox from the holidays and it’s helping me prioritize my other health goals like working out and eating healthy, which has been great! Fab Five Friday #4 – Pool Progress
It’s freezing outside, but the kids took to the pool anyways to test it out. The pool part of our backyard project is complete! We’re just waiting on a few more inspections and then we can close that part of the project. There’s still lots more to do, like landscaping, finishing the deck and building the roof/kitchen. But my heart was so full when I saw the kids already enjoying it and it made me really excited for the spring and summer when we can host pool parties.
Fab Five Friday #5 – Early Morning Workouts
I decided to try out working out in the mornings at the gym, and it’s been really nice! I loved the feeling of finishing my work day and not worrying about going to the gym after. After work I’m always so drained and tired and then it’s kid duty after school and getting ready for their activities. It’s a great feeling to get up early and get it over with! Right now I’ve been taking HIIT classes on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. (No pictures of these early morning endeavors, but I do have a witness who takes the classes with me so believe me, it’s true!) I’m only 1 week in but I’m hoping I can at least make it three days a week and clear up my nights after work.
