Happy Friday! This week was Spring break and it was such a fun time! We rented a house up in the panhandle of Florida, with some of our best friends and it was a blast. The house was in Watersound, not even a mile from the beach. And we got back just in time for a Fab Five Friday kind of recap! Here are some of the top five highlights from the trip!
1. Great Company
You just can’t beat a group of great friends on vacation. This is our second Spring Break with this crew, and it was once again epic. We found an amazing house with plenty of space for all four families. The community also had a heated pool and mini golf course. The walk to the beach was really nice and not too long at all. We would head down in groups, some on the golf cart, which usually took the group of kids, plus coolers and beach chairs. I really enjoyed the walk, though, so opted for that instead. The weather was beautiful—definitely chilly, but in the sun it was amazing.
2. Boat Day
We were really nervous about the weather, and it kept changing as we looked into the week we were going. One of the days we had rented a boat and it was predicted to rain, but when the day came, it could not have been a more perfect day.
We bundled up on the boat, loaded up the snacks and fishing gear and had such a blast. The water was absolutely beautiful. We hunted around for a great place to fish and posted up at an island for a bit where we all got off and explored. And our favorite part was finding a pod of dolphins, which was amazing!
3. Delicious Food
Ok, not a lot of pics of the food, but we ate like kings! Each night a family planned a dinner to cook. And each night the food was amazing! The first night started off with a seafood boil, then we followed that with a “formal” night (like on the cruises) where we had steak stuffed with a goat cheese, spinach and sundried tomatoes. Boat day was Ropa Vieja and our night was Italian night, with Brett’s famous spaghetti and meatsauce. There was so much food left over, we had a buffet on the final night with all the leftovers.
4. Seaside, Florida
Seaside is a definite must see. Next time, we’d be better off riding bikes there because it was insanely busy with Spring Break going on and parking and traffic was crazy for it being only 15 mins away from the house. But it was really pretty. The lunch at Bud and Alley’s was so yummy. I had a great salmon dish and the view was amazing. The shops and restaurants were great as well, and you could grab a drink from one of the vendors and shop around or people watch.
5. Crystal Clear Water & Sunsets
You cannot get better than these sunsets, crystal clear waters and soft sugary beaches.
The kids loved the sandbars and were brave enough to go in the water. The adults only dabbed their toes in here and there due to the cold, but the kids loved it. It really is an amazing location to vacation and I would definitely go back. I’d love to visit in the summer when I can enjoy the water more.
Cheers to Spring Break 2023! Such amazing memories and another great trip in the books!
