Happy Friday! It’s the end of January, man did that go fast. This week we’ve been preparing for our annual chili cook off, where last year we won first place! It’s a big deal around here and takes the full week to prepare for! It starts tomorrow bright and early, but we’ll be cranking through the final prep tonight to get us ready. So other than that a big doings this week, here are some Fab Five Friday highlights.
The Last of Us Show + Podcast
Anyone else filling that House of Dragons Sunday night void with the new HBO series The Last Of Us? We started watching after hearing great things about it, and it’s really good! Yes it sounds like a typical zombie-apocalyptic show, but there is so much more to it! Plus I love seeing familiar faces from GOT! It was actually inspired from a video game of the same name. I’m not familiar with the game at all, but I started listening to the podcast after each episode and it’s really cool to hear how a video game creator and HBO film director come together to bring it to life in a new way. Very interesting!
Chores App for Kids
Wondering how to get your kids excited about doing chores and sticking to them? Yeah, me too! In an effort to automate the process for us, I was looking into an app or something that could keep track and calculate earnings based on completed chores. So far this one is working really well! We are on the free version of the app and it does the basics we need for now, but the paid version can do a lot more customization. Pretty cool if you need some help in this area!
Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid
My current read! So far it’s so interesting and written in a documentary style format. I know there is a TV series coming out about this book and I can’t wait to see how they portray these characters that I am getting to know through interview questions. It’s fun to read and a change to the typical chapter books I’m used to.
Quick Dry Nail Polish Drops
Ok science… this is cool! I was skeptical about this product at first, but it really works! I still give my nails a couple minutes to let it dry after applying these drops to my top coat, but after that it’s perfectly dry! Without these to help speed up the process, I swear every time I thought my nails were dry and started moving around I’d wind up smudging them on something even 10 mins later. That doesn’t happen with these drops. So awesome! Especially if you have no patience like me and too many things piling up on your list.
Maybelline New York Contour Stick Duo
Am I totally late to the contour party? I will answer that, yes! I happened to have this product in my makeup drawer, I am pretty sure going on 10 years and I decided it looked intriguing and I wanted to try it out again. Mainly because I always feel so washed out on camera at work and adding some color to my cheek bones would help. I don’t apply full face makeup every day, so after applying my tinted SPF moisturizer I throw on a couple swipes of the contour and highlighter and it makes such a difference. And my favorite part is that it’s so easy. The stick contour is the way to go! I’m on board now. Any one have any other recommendations for contour stick sets you love?
