Singer Island, Florida is a little peninsula on the Atlantic coast in Palm Beach County. I’ve been spending summers there pretty much every year for the past 15 years. We head down usually on fourth of July weekend to my parent’s timeshare on the beach. The kids have been going since they were born and we usually spend as much time as possible by the pool and beach. But this year, since the kids are older, more active and curious about trying new things, we ventured out to explore more of the island. I have a lot of recommendations, but here are 6 family activities to do in Singer Island, Florida.
Family Activities To Do In Singer Island, Florida
1. Visit John D. MacArthur Beach State Park
John D. MacArthur Park brings back so many memories of mine as a child. We used to field trip there and they have an amazing sanctuary for wildlife. There was a scavenger hunt for finding cool species of birds and plants. Such a great educational outing for the kids and fun, too! I do have to say it’s very hot in the summer, so this might be a better spring activity. There is also access to the beach and they have night time turtle walks, which you can sign up for.
2. Visit the Sailfish Marina for a boat tour around Palm Beach Island
Sailfish Marina is a 3 minute drive from the hotel we stay in and right on the intercoastal. There are some amazingly beautiful yachts parked there as well as a hotel, shop and restaurant.
It’s a great way to get a nice salty breeze and check out some homes of the rich and famous on Palm Beach Island. We saw one of Bon Jovi’s homes, so Rylee was stoked. (That’s Rylee’s favorite band.)
3. Take a water taxi to Peanut Island
Peanut Island is right in the intercoastal just a water taxi away from Sailfish Marina. On the weekends the locals will boat out there and dock alongside the island, creating a party barge of sorts as the tide is really low there. It’s especially fun on holidays like the 4th. But Peanut Island is also a great place to explore with the family or plan a picnic on the beach.
4. Go on a fishing charter
Every year the guys go on a fishing charter into the Atlantic to hopefully catch us some fresh fish to cook up for dinner at night. There are a bunch that go out daily and it’s just a short drive across the bridge.
5. Eat a meal on the water
There are so many amazing waterfront restaurants to go to in the area, it’s a must if you are dining out. Waterway Cafe and Riverhouse are a short drive away right on the intercoastal. Seasons 52 is one of my favorite restaurants too right across the street. And you can always head to the restaurant at Sailfish Marina which also has a breakfast buffet.
6. Rent kayaks
Renting kayaks is a great way to get active and explore different parts of the area. We rented from MacArthur Park and it was super easy and affordable. The kids loved exploring the different waterways and islands we came across.
And that is plenty for one week! If you are looking for a place to stay, the Marriott Ocean Point is great. We typically don’t leave the property that much as they have all types of activities for the adults and kids like trivia, team volleyball and water polo games, and hoola hoop contests. When we aren’t our exploring or taking part, we’re just kicking back on a lounge chair, watching the waves and breathing in that salty, Atlantic breeze.
