This past weekend was quite an action packed one. I think I might actually still be recovering from Saturday!

Friday

It started Friday night at the school Gala, which was a 20’s themed fundraising event. The PTO board did such an amazing job putting it together, it was so much fun!

It was great to see parents and teachers outside of school and finally be able to go to an event again.

Saturday

Then, the next morning, the kids and I ran in our very first 5k together!

I have been wanting to do this forever (see bucket list), because I have loved the experience of racing so much and really wanted to introduce my kids to it. And to make it even more fun for them, I decided to do it at the Bubble Run.

They have bubble machines throughout the course that you get to run through and it is seriously fun. And in the pre/post run areas they had a DJ with more bubbles that the kids loved.

When it was time to line up, we couldn’t wait to get started!

Reece is my little competitive guy, and although we talked about the plan ahead of time—that we’ll stay together the whole time, and start running and then walk when we need to—he still went sprinting up away from us as soon as we got started.

I tried to run a bit faster to stay between Reece and Ry, but when I turned around, Rylee was not happy that I ran from her and wanted me to stay with her. We were all wearing bright orange so I could see Reece up ahead in the sea of white. I’m not going to lie, it did make me a little nervous, but there was a good trickle of people so he couldn’t get lost, and it was in a mostly enclosed space. I ended up calling Brett while we were walking to let him know he might see the little Reece man finish before us.

Rylee hung in there and we walked/ran the rest of the way. She had a bad cramp and I know how that is! We kept running the course and went through the bubble machine, when suddenly, Reece came right up to me saying “That took you so long! I’ve been waiting here for you!” I was so happy to see him! He felt bad for leaving us and said he was lonely so he waited. I loved so much that he waited for us, because we got to cross the finish line together!

We had such a great time! I am still beaming with joy from our experience together!

We grabbed lunch on the way home and head back home for our next events.

The kids’ really good friend and neighbor was celebrating her birthday and then after that we had Rylee’s end of year soccer party. It was back to back!

I had also bought tickets to the Winter Garden Theatre a while ago and that evening, we all went to see Beauty and the Beast. It was an amazing show! We were all so tired and I didn’t plan to get out so late, my bad! But it was a very fun experience as well. The kids, especially Rylee, were so into the show!

It’s a great theatre and the kids were asking when we could go back. I’m so glad, even though it ended up being such a packed day, that we decided to go.

I find it so funny that a day like Saturday, which sounds so overly packed with events, are actually what makes the weekends feel long. It always feel like it’s unmanageable or impossible to do, but it really ended up being such a fun day.

Sunday

Which meant we did absolutely nothing on Sunday! We needed to rest and get ready for the week. And Sunday felt like it went by so fast. How does that even happen! My parents came over for a bit in the afternoon to catch up, and then it was time for dinner and bed!

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and week ahead!
