This weekend was a Birthday Blast Weekend. We celebrated my and Reece’s birthday and it lasted the whole weekend. Little back story, I went into labor with Reece on the night of my 30th Birthday. He was a week early and I must not have been mentally ready for us to share the same birthday because I remember watching the clock in the delivery room waiting for it to pass midnight. So he is a day after me, and I will always remember how old I am when he turns another year older.

Friday

We spent Friday with some friends and they were so cute. We were outside enjoying the cool weather and they would not let us inside because they were making all kinds of signs for my birthday. It was very sweet. Especially when they looked up how to say Happy Birthday in Chinese and wrote it out on a poster.

Saturday

On Saturday morning, my mom took me out for brunch at First Watch, which was so nice. Then we spent the rest of the day relaxing as Brett’s parents came into town for the big event the next day, and to watch the kids so Brett and I could go out with some friends.

I love to dance, and was really looking forward to going to Cowboys, a local bar in town known for line dancing.

Plus I got to wear my cowboy boots. (Which are super cute, but not really broken in enough to dance in all night!)

It was a blast!

Sunday

We spent the night dancing away and I didn’t realize the time, we were having so much fun, so we got home a little late. Reece’s birthday was at 11am the next day at Skyzone.

The Location

Skyzone is an indoor trampoline park with some really neat obstacles. Reece was in active heaven. (One of his answers from the adorable and hilarious interview blog post with him)

We were put up in the balcony area, which was not our original location but was actually the best because it was elevated with a 180 degree view of the entire place.

We could pretty much look down and see the kids at any location throughout the park which was great. And it still felt really private.

The kids had so much fun on the rock wall, jumping into foam pits, pretending to be Ninja Warriors and bouncing around on the trampolines. They were sweaty messes at one point!

Skyzone is great for a winter birthday because it’s indoors and the weather here was pretty awful, with lots of clouds and cold, misty rain.

They allocated 1 hour for jumping and then another hour for eating. But they were so great with us, the kids ate in 5 minutes and were able to go back and play the rest of the time.

The Food

They provided all the drinks, pizza for the kids, plates, cups and silverware which made it really easy on us to set up. All we did was set up the table when we got there and brought the cake.

The Cake

Reece is really into coloring and drawing and everytime he does, he uses the colors of the rainbow and knows them by heart, which I thought was so cute. When we were talking about a theme for the cake and favors, I showed him a picture of a few cakes and he picked out an amazing one.

After pricing out a few places for what we wanted, which included his frosting choice and rainbow layers of cake, it was running about $85-$120! Which was a little insane in my book for a kid’s birthday party. So, I ended up checking Publix, and used the inside of the Rainbow Celebration Cake and showed them a picture of what Reece wanted. And they killed it!

It looked just like the picture I was so amazed and happy. And it was only $35.99.

The Favors

Sticking with the rainbow theme, I got these cute rainbow bags and filled them with some gold (Rolos) and some other fun rainbow treats and toys.

Rainbow Party Favors

To personalize them, I created a cute little label to stick on the bags that says “Thank you. You Brighten my day!” And stuffed them with rainbow glitter tissue paper from the dollar store.

I made about 12 bags and it was under $5 each! Here is a link to everything I used. Everything is from Target which was super convenient, too.

The Gifts

We opened presents with the whole family at home and Reece was super excited. He loved everything! (Thanks to all who came, you made our days!)

His finale gift from the family was a new set of real golf clubs. He has shown such interest in the sport, so we all decided to invest in a really nice pair he can grow into for the next couple years. He was so excited!
