Happy Valentines Day! I hope you are showing lots of love to your family and friends and all those around you. This year, I wanted to show the kids how to appreciate all the people around us by thinking of simple acts of kindness for Valentines day that they can do for others, instead of themselves. Valentine’s Day is all about showing other people how you feel about them, so it is the perfect holiday to share the love!
Here are some ideas we came up with.
Simple Acts of Kindness Valentine’s Day
Simple Act of Kindness #1: Write a letter to the Mailman/woman
Our kids love writing letters and there is nothing more fun than running out to the mailbox to drop it in and raise the little red flag. And I love this idea to surprise the Mailman or women who works so hard every day to deliver us our mail.
Simple Act of Kindness #2: Make a sweet treat for your friends and neighbors
Every year we make this super fun sweet treat to give out to our neighbors and friends. It’s an addicting snack that is salty and sweet. And the kids absolutely love to help make them. It’s a mess-free and fun activity to do together. Here’s how to make these delicious treats that make for a perfect simple act of kindness.
Why I Love Simple Acts of Kindness
It is so important to take some time and show your children how to be kind to others and think about how to make the people in their life feel special. Valentine’s Day is a great opportunity to do so. As the kids are thinking about all the candy and gifts they will get this week, it’s a nice reminder that giving love, gifts and appreciation is just as rewarding as receiving.
Simple Act of Kindness #3: Leave a bowl of treats and snacks for the delivery guys
Leave a cooler and some snacks outside for all the delivery people that come by this week, as a simple act of kindness in honor of Valentine’s day. You can have the kids write a special sign and decorate it with hearts for the holiday.
Simple Act of Kindness #4: Leave Love notes around the house
I love the idea of showing your family how much you love and appreciate them. Using heart shaped doilies like these are great for posting around the house for sweet surprises throughout the week.
Simple Act of Kindness #5: Clean up trash around the neighborhood
Something so simple and thoughtful is to help clean up the neighborhood. I love that the kids came up with this one on their own. It’s important to show appreciation for our neighborhood we live in and our planet. And it’s a great way to get outside and make the world a more beautiful place.
