To make shopping easier this year, I put together this gift guide for 8 year old girls, using my own daughter as inspiration. These gifts were specially selected based on my daughter’s interests and to encourage creativity, learning and staying active, instead of taking up space in the playroom.

Some of these items we currently own and love, but others were on my daughter’s wish list and what I am planning to gift her this year.

Gift Guide for 8 Year Old Girls

So let’s get into it!

Girls Lounge Robe

Little girls are like princesses and they like to be treated that way. So a luxurious—and cute!—robe is a perfect gift. For at home spa days, or just hanging around in the house, it’s an easy and useful gift that she’ll use all year.

Dual-Tip Markers

Graduate from crayons and let your 8 year old channel their creativity with these dual-tip markers. They can experiment with different thicknesses to create a masterpiece of their own. Something I know my daughter is looking forward to doing.

Sketch Board

These sketch boards are really neat ways for 8 year olds to get creative, drawing or writing. They can display their artwork on their desks and erase it when they are ready for something new. And I can totally see Rylee using her imagination, playing with her friends outside and using this as some kind of scavenger hunt map. Can I play too?! The market for these is pretty overwhelming with options, so after digging around and researching, this is the sketch board we are going with.

Light up Scooter

Scooters are great for getting your 8 year old outside and active. I love that this one lights up and especially with the time change and it getting darker outside, it would be fun to see her zip around outside with her friends.

Princess in Black Book Set

Encouraging reading for your 8 year old is so important, and the holidays are great ways to introduce new and age appropriate books. Rylee is on her second round of reading this Princess in Black box set and I even enjoyed reading the stories with her. There is nothing better than seeing your little one head to bed early to read on their own, and the right books make all the difference. Highly recommend this set!

Guess Who

Games are another gift I love giving, because it’s something the whole family can enjoy. And shelf space for games is something I can definitely get on board with. There looks to be a newer version out there on the web to purchase, but I bought the original Guess Who, which is what I am linking here. Because if you are going with a classic like this, you gotta go OG!

Tacto Laser

This might be one of the coolest new toys that I have seen this year and is definitely on our lists. If our kids are going to be playing games on the iPad anyways, I love the idea of this, as it’s about 200+ STEM based, critical thinking and problem solving games with a very hands on approach. It’s really unique and works with several tablet brands. Check out the video to see more. Very cool!

Snow Globe Maker

If your 8 year old is looking for a creative outlet, this Snow Globe Maker Kit is such a fun and unique gift idea. We got this over the summer for a rainy day activity to do as a family and the kids absolutely loved it. They still have them in their rooms! I linked the holiday version here because I thought it could be a fun, holiday activity to do with the family and even become a gift for a loved one after it’s made. So much fun!

I hope this was a helpful and inspiring post for your holiday shopping this year! And because I am so in gift giving mode (Hanukkah is right around the corner!) I decided to do a couple of these posts to take the place of Fab Five Friday, so look out for more! I would still say it’s a Fab Friday – Holiday Gift edition! Thanks for stopping by and happy gifting!
