Happy Friday, from Boston! We are here in Boston for Brett’s cousin’s wedding and are so excited! It’s a quick trip for us, but we are going to make the most of it. This is going to be a fun fab Five Friday so let’s get into it!

1 . Lighting the Pumpkins!

Our friend, Tiffany, invited us over this year to carve our pumpkins and I am glad she did! It was the last weekend before Halloween and our last shot to get it done. I am so glad we did! I love how they turned out. Mine is Derpy from KPop demon Hunters, Rylee’s is Mushroom from Mario, and Reece’s is a Minion. They looked amazing! And of course we made our delicious pumpkin seeds, that make the perfect sweet and salty snack.

2. Halloween Spooks

Halloween last weekend was also such a blast! We had a large group with us and trick or treated in a friend’s neighborhood this year that was spectacular. Another year another costume in the books!

3. Soccer Tournament Finalists

I also never posted a recap about Reece’s Monster Mash soccer tournament. It was such a fun one, Halloween themed so I loved it! Reece’s team played so hard and they won second place! Definitely improving against this harder division this year! Very proud of them,

4. Nueva Cantina Tampa

And while we were at the tournament, we were looking for places to go to lunch with the team in between games, and we found a gem! Nueva Cantina was all decked out for Halloween with fun decor and themed drinks. And the food was so good! They accommodated our party of over 20 and service was amazing as well. If we are ever back in this area I am definitely planning to eat hear again. So good!

5. Garment Bags for Dance Costumes

This one is for the dance moms! Since Rylee is in 6 numbers this comp season, I was looking for something to keep all her costumes and accessories organized. These are on Amazon and currently on sale for $19.99 for a pack of three. These are gonna be game changers for us this season and wanted to spread the word.

What I love about this costume

The ring mistress costume is so cute and such great quality. It’s so flattering and very fun to wear. It didn’t come with the tights, but I found them easily at Target.

And the lion costume, which was really just the mane, claws and tail, made it so easy for Brett to dress up. He’s pretty go with the flow, but I knew this would make it an easy win. He paired it with some beige clothes he had already in his closet.

It’s definitely a win for a cute Halloween costume idea for a couple, or even friends.

The other acts of our show included a magical unicorn and a fighting Power Ranger.

Last year, Reece wanted to be the alien kidnapping a boy costume and I thought it was so funny. We thought it would be even funnier if we all wore an inflatable costume, and man were we right. We had so much fun with this one!

It’s always great to have a good witch costume on the ready for a last minute costume or Halloween party. I particularly love the hat and tights that really completed this costume. And the boots made it a really comfy option as well. Let’s not forget about the witch’s black cat. An easy onesie costume any husband would be willing to wear.

Game of thrones – Daenerys, Her Dragons and John Snow

When both of your kids want to dress up like dragons, there’s only one thing mom and dad can do. Dress like Daenerys and John Snow of course. This year’s costume was epic.

As you can tell, I love to dress up and then find easy ways for Brett to play the part with me. I absolutely loved this ringleader costume, and need to wear it again. And you can’t beat this easy lion mane, claws and tail that Brett looks so cute in.

The kids loved these costumes so much, they wore them for two years in a row. They would even run around with the neighborhood kids in their costumes throughout the year playing games. Great costume idea for any siblings, or the whole family! There is never any shortage of superheros to dress up as.

One of my favorite costumes ever was Rylee as Elsa and Reece as Olaf when they were so little. This was Reece’s second Halloween ever! It was the cutest thing to see him walking down the street in this costume. Take me back, it’s too cute!

I get really excited and love everything about Halloween, if you can’t tell. It’s not just one day in our home, it’s all month! So here is my list of 7 Halloween activities you can do with your kids that will keep the spooky family fun going up until the big day. And none of them involve candy!

1. Switch up traditional bedtime stories with Halloween themed books

It’s so much fun to get into the spirit of Halloween with the kiddies each night before bed. There are so many fun stories, and I feel like I never get bored of them. Some of my favorites include Mickey’s Spooky Halloween and Trick Arrr Treat. And most recently we got Goodnight Goon and How to Catch a Monster.

2. Watch a different Halloween movie every Friday

Friday night is movie night, and there are so many fun ones to watch in the spirit of Halloween. My personal favorites are Hocus Pocus and Casper, but this list of 60 kid-friendly movies has a bunch that I would give a whirl.

3. Decorate for Halloween as a family

Get the kids involved in decorating the house or picking out a new item for the yard. It’s always fun to make it a family affair. This year we are planning on decorating our golf cart when we take it around with us, so we’ll be getting creative together.

4. Take a visit to a new Pumpkin Patch

Pumpkin patches are my favorite! They are outside in the fresh air, with typically tons to see and do depending on where you go. And they are great picture ops. Some of my favorite family photos are taken at pumpkin patches. These photos are taken at the Showcase of Citrus in Clermont.

5. Carve pumpkins together

After the pumpkin patch, we always find a weekend to carve our pumpkins. I love thinking through fun ideas for stencils (Check out my Handmaid’s Tale pumpkin!) and the kids are getting more and more involved as they are getting older. Plus we get to make this amazing pumpkin seed recipe that I’m addicted to this time of year.

6. Pick out or make Halloween costumes together

Planning costumes for the year is clearly a very important task. But it can also be super fun! It’s so much fun to hear what the kids want to be and use that as inspiration, like last year’s tribute to the final season of Game of Thrones. The kids wanted to be dragons for Halloween, so we capitalized on that opportunity to be Dani and John Snow.

Last year, Brett let the kids pick out his costume, and he complied. (I may have swayed them a bit to choose a black cat, to go with my costume

7. Check out local events and plan a fun evening out

There’s so much going on around this time of year if you plan ahead. Look into local events in your area and partake in the gouly fun! In Winter Garden, our city gets decorated with some amazing Halloween decor and they even created a spooky golf cart trail which is fun to go through at night.

Leading up to Halloween, you can have photo ops in Downtown one night and a ride through the trail on another.

There’s also a light show that turns City Hall into an amazing display of Halloween themed graphics that is a must see every year. And they show a movie outside a few nights throughout the month, showing a fun Halloween themed movie.
